Process · Conformal Coating

Selective conformal-coating systems

Selective conformal coating applies coating material precisely to electronic assemblies. Connectors, contacts and other keep-out zones can be accounted for in the coating program.

How conformal coating works.

Spray and needle valves follow programmed contours. Camera-assisted teaching and DXF or image data support setup. For repeatable results, material, viscosity, valve, target coating thickness and component geometry must be matched.

Typical application

The SC-902 is a benchtop system with two work platforms. The inline SC-903R and SC-904 transport PCBs through the process; the SC-904 has four standard valves.

What matters when choosing a system.

Coating area

Check format and component height. With two work platforms, the stated areas apply to each platform.

Keep-out areas

Check connectors, test points and contact surfaces in the program and on samples.

Valves and material

Narrow spray and needle valves are standard equipment; additional valves are model-dependent options.

Inspection after coating

The CI-900 is a separate inspection system for optical coating inspection.
